Every time New Year comes around, I can’t help but feel a bubble of excitement. There is something really special about the turning of a new chapter, a fresh start, a clean slate. The new year ahead is an opportunity for new goals and new adventures. This year is the first year in a long time where my life has not been all about studying or university…finally after 8 years I’ve got a full new year ahead of me that involves 0 exams or essays and I can focus on other stuff that is important to me…like my business and blog. For me, it’s a HUGE thing and I’m beyond pumped for the year ahead.
Here is my little list of things that I’d like to experience over the next 12 months…
2017’s WISH LIST
EAT HEALTHIER & WORK OUT
I know, I know I bet you just rolled your eyes didn’t you? I’m not talking about turning into a fitness fanatic or making a dramatic lifestyle change. But I would like to take little steps to look after myself a bit more – two work outs a week and eating vegetables twice a week would be an improvement so I’ll start with that. Also lessen the takeaways and amount of sugar in my tea. I usually take 3 sugars…super bad for me I know and because of this, I only have 1-2 cups a day. I’d like to reduce this to 2 sugars and have this become my usual brew recipe…it’s a improvement RIGHT?!
GROW MY BLOG
I started this blog at the end of 2016 so at the moment it is miniscule. A teeny tiny blob on the phenomenon that is the internet (a blob that you’d need a microscope to see!). This year I want to focus on building my blog identity and hopefully grow as an entity too.
GROW MY BUSINESS
This one is a Hippo & Co. goal really but still it’s going to be the one with my most attention. My online store launched also at the end of 2016 after years of working on it. The goal of 2016 was to tie up loose ends and click that almighty LIVE button. Now we’ve done that, it’s time to focus on expanding our product range and building our following.
I’ve got SO MANY ideas for what I’d like as a tattoo but I’ve not decided on one yet or the placement so I’m not quite ready to take the plunge yet. I have a thing for dreamcatchers, botanical flowers, roses and birdcages. I also quite like arrows and mandala designs so whilst I’ve got lots of inspiration, who knows how I’m going to finally settle on one. I’m stuck on placement too, I can’t decide if I’d like it to be somewhere that I’d see everyday like my lower arm or upper foot, or go with something that can easily be hidden like my upper thigh. I’ve also considered finding an artist who could cover a section of my burn scar as I’ve found some AMAZING cover ups on the internet, but then there’s doubt whether it would heal well or hurt more than your average tattoo. There is so much indecision surrounding this topic but I know I definitely want to take the plunge this year…no doubt the back-end of 2017 to give me some more time to mull it over.
START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL
This one I’m a little nervous about but I’ve been watching Youtubers for years and I’m always a little envious that they have a fab video collection to look back on as they grow older. I’ve been stalling for a long time but I’m seriously thinking of starting my own channel on a casual basis and seeing where it takes me…i’m thinking this year may be the time to finally commit.
This one is a big one and a scary one but we’ve lived in our little flat for almost 4 years and it was only meant to be a temporary short-term arrangement but alas we are still here. Our contract is due to end early January 2018 so the plan is to be out of here by then…getting together a reasonable deposit is the tricky part but at least we’ve got 12 months to give it a go!
And there we have it, a few big milestones I am hoping to hit this upcoming year. It looks very much like a challenging one but I can’t wait to be in the full swing of it and fingers crossed that the hard work ahead will pay off.
As for you – you lovely individualy…I hope you have a fabulous new year’s eve and a fun year ahead of you too!
